On July 7, ICE agents shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston while he was driving a work van with his crew. On July 13, ICE agents fatally shot Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine – his wife and 3-year-old daughter witnessed his murder. Lorenzo and Johan were devoted fathers and beloved members of their communities, killed on their way to work. Both men were immigrants to this country from Mexico and Colombia, respectively. Neither was the intended target of ICE activity.

 Join us this Sat 7/25 @ 2pm in Courthouse Square to unite in community, inform, and reflect. Please feel free to bring whatever you wish (flower, small stone, letter/card, drawing) for the tribute we’ll create during the vigil. Also welcome are photos and signs focused on honoring Lorenzo, Johan, and all of those killed or disappeared by ICE – and on stopping this violence.

We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
